This Privacy Policy explains what Fownd collects in its iPhone and Android apps, how it's used, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: your email, display name, account ID and, if you add one, a profile photo.
- What you add: your scans and their results, inventory, trips, watchlist, sales, expenses, mileage and notes.
- Photos: only the photos you take or choose. Scan photos are sent to our AI provider to identify the item. Photos you keep on an item, attach to an eBay listing or use as your profile photo are stored in your account.
- Location: only when you use the map, and only if you allow it. Your position is sent to our server to find places near you; we don't store it. The map is drawn by Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android.
- Purchases: Fownd Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play. We receive your subscription's status (plan, renewal and end dates), never your card details.
- eBay connection (optional): if you connect your eBay account to list items, we store the access that eBay gives us to post and update listings for you. You can disconnect it at any time.
- Diagnostics and usage: crash and error reports, which steps you completed (for example, during sign-up), your app version, device type and operating system version.
What we don't collect
- Your contacts, messages, microphone or audio, or photos you don't choose.
- We don't show ads, and we don't sell or rent your data.
How we use it
To run Fownd: identify and price what you scan, work out verdicts and profit, keep your data in sync across devices, provide Pro to subscribers, post eBay listings you ask for, fix crashes, and send account and product emails. If you tick "Send me sourcing intel" when you sign up, we also email you product news and tips. You can opt out of those with the link in each one.
Service providers
These companies process data for Fownd so the app can work. They don't get to use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase — sign-in, database and file storage.
- OpenAI — identifies scanned items from their photos. Under OpenAI's API terms, images aren't used to train their models.
- eBay APIs — live listings for pricing (we send the search, not who you are) and, if you connect eBay, posting your listings.
- Sold-listings data provider (via RapidAPI) — sold prices for Pro subscribers. We send the search, not who you are.
- Google Places — finds places near you on the map, using your position at that moment.
- Google Maps (Android) and Apple Maps (iPhone) — draw the map.
- Superwall — shows the upgrade screens and records subscription status. It uses an app identifier for your device and your subscription details.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — take payment for subscriptions.
- Resend — sends emails and keeps our mailing list: your email address, first name and whether you get product news.
- Railway — hosts Fownd's server. Cloudflare — hosts joinfownd.com.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete it and the data linked to it. Copies can remain in backups for a short time before they're overwritten.
Your choices
- Get a copy of your data: Pro subscribers can export it from the app (Profile → Export), and anyone can ask us for a copy by email.
- Delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or from the web: joinfownd.com/delete-account.
- Turn off location for Fownd in your phone's settings; everything except the map keeps working.
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link in any email.
- Email us with any privacy request.
Children
Fownd is meant for adults and isn't directed to children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
